Anne-Marie McElroy grew up in Ottawa and has been practising criminal law since 2010.
After completing her undergrad at the University of King's College and Dalhousie in Halifax, Anne-Marie returned to the University of Ottawa to study law. There, she focused on criminal and constitutional law. While at school, she worked for the Canadian Association Elizabeth Fry Societies, developing manuals to be used in provincial jails. She also co-ordinated LEAF's 'No Means No' campaign, overseeing workshops about equality and sexual assault in schools.
After graduating, Anne-Marie articled with Shore Davis Hale, and went on to practice at Hale Criminal Law Office before joining May & Konyer. In August of 2015, she founded McElroy Law.
Anne-Marie is a committed advocate for her clients. She strives to provide the best representation, through listening to her clients' needs and coming up with creative solutions to their legal issues.
Outside of the courtroom, Anne-Marie is actively involved in the legal community, as a director for the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, and a member of the Community Adult Justice Network. She also provides media commentary on cases in the news and her blog won a 2015 'Clawbie' award for best new blog.
